PhD positions in Mechanical Engineering are available within the research group of Dr. Seong Hyeon Hong at the Florida Institute of Technology.
We will be focusing on intelligent perception and control of various systems, such as UAVs, mobile robots and robot manipulators. Specific topics include but not limited to autonomous inspection, heterogeneous multi-robot system (sensing and planning), visual servoing, and fault diagnosis & prognosis.
Job responsibilities:
- Develop methods for enhanced perception and control in robotic applications
- Perform experiments for evaluation
- Participate in externally funded projects
- Assist in the preparation of reports and other documents
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong motivation to explore new ideas
- BS or MS in mechanical, aerospace, electrical engineering or related
- Excellent analytical background in mathematics
- Proficiency in MATLAB and other programming languages
- Prior research experience in control, machine learning, and robotics.
- Good writing and oral communication skills
- Comfortable working in a team environment
