The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) in the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a full time tenure-track, open rank faculty position beginning Fall 2020 in the area of Computational Mechanics.
Candidates are sought with the expertise in the field of computational mechanics, including, multiscale materials modeling, material and structural response across different length and time scales, computing tools and techniques for advancements in the field of mechanics, such as data-driven techniques, with applications in emerging areas of advanced and additive manufacturing, robotics, nanotechnology, and biomedical engineering.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of engineering, demonstrated a record of scholarly work commensurate with rank and commitment to teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate students in the area Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service, with an emphasis on an externally funded research program of international reputation. The candidate is expected to collaborate with other faculty members in MME and other departments in the CEC and FIU. Currently, MME department participates in large multi-university projects such as NSF ERC, DOE-MSIPP, and NASA-MIRO. Candidates should complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths in research and teaching.
