Job Title: Post-Doctoral Fellow in Motorcycle Safety Research
Duration: 2 years
Preference will be given to recent graduates.
Position Overview: Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center at Qatar University is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to join a project funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). The project, "Towards Safer Riding: Modeling Motorcyclists' Behavior and Risk Perception using a Dynamic Simulator for Innovative Safety Interventions," aims to develop and test safety interventions to improve motorcyclists' behavior and reduce crash risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research using a dynamic base motorcycle simulator to study motorcyclists' behavior and risk perception.
- Develop and evaluate safety interventions, such as dynamic message signs (DMSs) and smart helmet warning systems.
- Analyze data from crash reports and simulations to identify factors contributing to motorcycle crashes and assess the effectiveness of safety measures.
- Collaborate with team members from Qatar University and international partners.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, Traffic Safety, Human Factors, Psychology, Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong publication record in relevant peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience with driving or motorcycle simulators, data analysis, and statistical modeling; willingness to be trained on SCANeR software.
- Proficiency in programming and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, SPSS, R).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Salary and benefits:
a. Housing allowance QR 7,000.
b. Annual economy air ticket allowance to the home country as per quotation from Qatar Airways for the employee, accompanying spouse and up to two children (under 18 years of age) “similar to QU HR policy for academic staff”
c. Annual paid vacation for 35 calendar days. Permission for vacation will be given in accordance with work needs in the research project.
d. Education allowance for one “accompanying” child from grade one up to 18 years of age. The entitlement is not exceeding QR 45,000 per year per child “similar to QU HR policy for academic staff”.
e. Health insurance for the employee accompanying spouse and up to two children (under 18 years of age) “similar to QU HR policy for academic staff”.
f. Up to 5% annual increment
g. Monthly salary of QR 17,000 that incorporates:
· Basic monthly salary QR 16,000
· Transportation allowance QR1,000
