Professor (all ranks) in Aerospace Engineering
The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks applicants for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position in all areas of Aerospace Engineering. The appointment will be at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate's experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2020. Although appointments may be in any of Fulton Engineering's six schools, the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy is currently most involved in areas relevant to aerospace engineering.
Specific areas of expertise and interest include, but are not limited to, fluid dynamics, structural dynamics, guidance and control, modeling, simulation, analysis and design, and other areas relevant to contemporary challenges and opportunities in aerospace systems. Higher priority will be given to the overall originality, creativity, and promise of the candidate's relevant work rather than to particular sub-areas of specialization.
We seek applicants who will contribute to our programs and will leverage investments by the university in promoting interdisciplinary teaching and research. These investments include, among others, major on-campus research initiatives such as the NewSpace Initiative, the Flexible Electronics and Display Center, the Biodesign Institute, LightWorks, Decision Theater, the Global Security Initiative, and others.
Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, foster and contribute to inclusive work environment, and undertake service activities within the university, in the professional community, and at the national level.
Ph.D. or equivalent in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely field related to the stated research and teaching focus areas of this position by the time of appointment ;
Evidence of excellence in research, as appropriate to the candidate's rank; and
Evidence of excellence in teaching, as appropriate to the candidate's rank
