We invite applications for a Mechanical Engineering Program Director who will lead an innovative partnership with Colorado State University (CSU) to offer a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering on the Adams State University (ASU) Campus and who will also teach upper division (300 and 400-level) Mechanical Engineering courses. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for teaching and shares our dedication to excellence in undergraduate education. The successful candidate will lead by example and work to maintain a culture that is positive, fun and supportive for students and faculty.

The Mechanical Engineering Program Director will establish a vision and strategy for growth. Major administrative responsibilities will include oversight of the program, course scheduling, program assessment, strategic planning, development and implementation of recruitment plans, budget management, and other duties characteristic of a part-time administrative role.

The Instructor / Professor will teach upper division (300 and 400-level) Mechanical Engineering courses, which may include Mechanics of Solids (CIVE 360), Engineering Design III (MECH 301), Mechatronics (MECH 307), Dynamics of Machines (MECH 324), Machine Design (MECH 325), Materials (MECH 331), Thermodynamics (MECH 337), Fluids (MECH 342), Heat & Mass Transfer (MECH 344), and Engineering Design Practicum (MECH 486). CSU will hire two other Non-Tenure Track Faculty (NTTF) members to share this upper division teaching load, a Lab Support Engineer to manage the Undergraduate Teaching Labs, and an Academic Advisor to support the students.

The individual selected for this position will be assigned one of six NTTF working titles based on education and experience. Specifically, a selected individual who has an MS will have a working title of Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Master Instructor; a selected individual who has a PhD will have a working title of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Within these two working titles, a selected individual who has less than 5 years of experience will have a working title of Instructor or Assistant Professor; a selected individual who has more than 5 years of experience will have a working title of Senior Instructor or Associate Professor; a selected individual who has more than 10 years of experience will have a working title of Master Instructor or [Full] Professor.

This position supports the educational mission of the Department and its commitment to provide high-quality opportunities in Mechanical Engineering. The position will report to the CSU Mechanical Engineering Department Head on a one-year renewable contract, pending successful performance and available funding. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse faculty, staff, and students within the CSU Department of Mechanical Engineering and the ASU School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Candidates should demonstrate that they possess (1) a commitment to student-centered instruction, (2) a plan for maintaining currency in engineering, and (3) a commitment to furthering the University’s mission of Inclusive Excellence.
