One funded Ph.D. position is available for Fall 2023 admission in the Sustainable and Autonomous Structure Lab directed by Prof. Yi Shao at McGill University. The Ph.D. candidate will work on projects related to one of the following two research lines:
- Developing adaptable, resilient and sustainable concrete structures as well as related design codes. This topic requires strong passion in structural design, structural analysis, and hands-on lab work. This research line involves the development and application of advanced materials (e.g., UHPC and FRP) and advanced design tools (e.g., topology optimization and data-driven designs).
- Developing autonomous construction techniques to automate the construction industry. This topic requires strong background in mathematics and python as well as experience or passion in robotics, computer vision, or machine learning.
Our lab has a long history of developing design methods of UHPC structure and applying these methods to innovate existing structural systems. Our research team also collaborates with world-renown researchers in robotics and computer science from other top universities, such Stanford, Berkeley and Princeton.
