The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (http://civil.unl.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Water Resources Engineering. Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related field, demonstrated success or potential for success in undergraduate and graduate education, and the potential to establish an active externally funded research program. The position will be located on the Omaha campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a significant independent research program in any area related to water flow in natural or engineering systems. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, human interferences in hydrological processes, the water-energy-food nexus, and sustainable water and environmental infrastructure systems. The successful candidate is encouraged to collaborate with faculty in the Department of Civil Engineering and the College of Engineering, as well as to develop interdisciplinary projects with other faculty in the University system, the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Current areas of research within the department include hydrologic systems analysis and process modeling, integrated modeling for sustainable water resources management, hydrologic applications of data science, remote sensing of hydrology and water resources, and water infrastructure. Teaching responsibilities of the new hire will include undergraduate and graduate courses in water resources engineering and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

The UNL College of Engineering is undergoing an exciting period of significant growth. The Department of Civil Engineering consists of approximately 30 tenure/tenure-track faculty, 500 undergraduate students, and 130 graduate students. Additional resources for research and collaboration include the Holland Computing Center, the Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research, the Water Sciences Laboratory, the Nebraska Nanoengineering Research Facility, and other state- and federally-funded research centers and programs.
