A Ph.D. Research / Teaching Assistant position is available in the Department of Electric Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the Catholic University of America (CUA). This position provides the doctoral student with an annual stipend of $20,000 and a full tuition waiver for the 2020-2021 academic year. It covers twelve months of your effort from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021 and you will be paid in monthly payments. Your duty may include grading, instructing lab sessions, and other work as assigned by the department chair. You will also conduct research in computational optics and image processing under the supervision of Dr. George Nehmetallah.

Specific Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this position include assisting with data collection and administration of experimental procedures and assisting with administrative aspects of preparing manuscripts for publication.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates for the CUA Ph.D. program should hold a BS/BA or MS (preferred) in Electrical Engineering or related fields. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
  • The successful candidate should have experience in conducting empirical research and expertise in using programming languages such as Matlab or Python for data analysis, model-based data analysis.
  • A solid background in electromagnetics or Optics, machine learning, and image processing.
  • Have successfully passed TOEFL
