A PhD scholarship in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at North Carolina A & T
University, Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, is open for hiring immediately on designing secure and
privacy-preserving protocols for smart grid, vehicular ad hoc networks and autonomous systems. The
candidate should have a background in some of the following topics: Applied cryptography, block
chain applications, machine learning (deep feed-forward neural networks, deep recurrent neural
networks, deep convolutional neural networks), and privacy-preserving machine learning applications.
The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Mahmoud N. Mahmoud (Assistant Professor at Department
of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at North Carolina A & T University).
An MSc degree in Computer Science/Electrical and Computer Engineering related to the areas
Good/Basic background in applied cryptography.
Good knowledge of deep machine learning (deep feed-forward neural networks, deep neural
Relevant programming skills (python: Keras, Scikit-learn, etc. and MATLAB)
English writing and verbal skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant background in privacy-preserving machine learning applications is a plus.
Relevant publication record in top academic conferences and journals is a plus.
