Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science at UNC Charlotte is currently seeking candidates for Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidate should be committed to teaching undergraduate mechanical engineering courses and labs and be actively involved in undergraduate curriculum and development activities. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in engineering (or closely related discipline) or master’s degree and professional engineering experience. For those applicants seeking appointment at the Teaching Associate Professor rank they must also have at least five years’ experience beyond the PhD or master’s degree and at least 8 years of professional engineering experience.

Duties will involve teaching up to four classes each semester and some service responsibilities. Successful applicants will demonstrate potential for effective teaching, curriculum development and innovation, scholarship of teaching, and a commitment to student success. In addition, applicants are sought that have ability and potential for distinction in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility as well as a demonstrated commitment to address multicultural issues in teaching, scholarship and outreach/service activities. Expertise in the areas of the automotive and/or motorsports industry, machine design, and design projects is preferred. Prior teaching experience and an ability and willingness to participate in department, college and university affairs Ability and willingness to address multicultural issues in teaching and outreach/service activities is also preferred.
