The Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is seeking applicants for the position of Director of the BCOE Winston Chung Global Energy Center (WCGEC). This position is at the Full Professor level or higher for distinguished candidates.

WCGEC is a multi-disciplinary research center that focuses on the broad area of energy and sustainability. It was established in January 2011 with a $10 million cash donation from Winston Chung, a Chinese battery technology scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur. Later, an additional $5 million was donated to establish a Sustainable Integrated Grid Initiative (SIGI) as part of WCGEC. SIGI aims to demonstrate the "smart integration" of battery technologies, renewable energy, and advanced dispatch controls through field implementations at UCR.

WCGEC offers Energy and Power Systems (Area 1) and Energy Devices and Materials (Area 2) programs. Area 1 focuses on integrating renewable energy resources, modernizing power systems, and power protection, while Area 2 emphasizes advanced battery technologies, fuel cells, and solar energy. The ideal candidate will lead multidisciplinary research efforts with BCOE departments: Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering.

Review of applications will begin immediately, and the search will continue until the position is filled. For full consideration, candidates are highly encouraged to apply by March 8, 2024. To Apply: Please submit a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, contact information for three references (minimum of three with an option of five references), a Statement of Research, a Statement of Leadership, a Statement of Teaching, and a Contribution to Diversity Statement to the AP recruit website at https://aprecruit.ucr.edu/JPF01865.
