Position Summary
This position involves working with the SSISTL director and associate directors, and with OSI personnel to support grant writing, grant oversight, data collection, manuscript writing and other duties in support of institute operations. Specific duties comprise both high-level organizational tasks and research-oriented tasks to develop the research portfolio of the institute, and include the following:

  • Support the research mission of the institute
  • Develop, update, and distribute on a regular basis lists of relevant potential funding sources
  • Work with SSISTL researchers to develop competitive research proposals
  • Facilitate "ideation" meetings
  • Contribute background research and literature reviews to support proposal topics
  • Coordinate and track grant submissions and provide post-award support
  • Create and maintain expertise database
  • Attend sponsor meetings
  • Provide high level input and management of institute objectives
  • Work with stakeholders to establish and communicate long-term operational objectives
  • Research factors that may impact the success of the program
  • Research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the further development of the institute, including development of strategic plans
  • Conduct SWOT analysis for SSISTL
  • Market research analysis for SSISTL (in collaboration with SoM)
  • Help develop and manage research and educational objectives, including possible student exchange or international collaboration programs
  • Develop SSISTL regulations and policies
  • Represent the program at meetings and conferences, and network with affiliated groups
  • Help prepare quarterly and annual reports
  • Serve as liaison with OSI personnel to oversee and insure appropriate level of administrative support

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Science or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years operations and outreach experience in a higher education setting
  • Ability to standardize best practices and processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Science or Engineering
  • Adobe Creative Cloud | In design and Photoshop
  • Experience in website content development and layout
