Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
A project coordinator’s position in multidisciplinary research is available immediately at Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The aim of this project is to develop Research training in sustainable packaging and biodegradable polymer composites for the next generation of STEM graduates. The Coordinator will provide logistic and administrative support for the PI/PO on any of the following tasks:
Coordinate the NSF funded NRT research, recruitment and outreach activities.
Plan and coordinate external advisory board meetings between the PI and other investigators, and external advisory group meeting.
Coordinate in the evaluation process.
Lead graduate and undergraduate students in support of logistics and research operations
Plan, coordinate and implement the outreach activities such as science and technology open house, research experience for undergraduate students.
Assist the PI in preparation and submission of final reports.
Assist and maintain student records, coordinate graduate student academic activities.
Able to assist in Nanobiomaterials Extraction from waste resources,
Assist in Biopolymers Design and Synthesis,
Assist in fabrication of sustainable Green Composites
Must have a M.S in chemistry, or Physics or chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering
At least two years’ experience in materials related research activities Experience with analysis of polymer composites is desirable Experience in scientific equipment maintenance is a plus
Must communicate effectively interpersonally and in writing
Commensurate with education, training and experience; **Position available initially for 2-3 years and may extend with salary contingent upon outside funding.
