The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence to wearable sensor data for nutrition research. Publishes results in academic journals. Participates in grant proposal preparation. Conducts research under the supervision of Dr. Edward Sazonov. The initial appointment is for a period of one year. The review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Applicants should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae and include at least two references in the reference section of the application.

Required skills and knowledge include good verbal and written English communication skills. Ability to work independently work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. Extensive practical experience and strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning (Python, TensorFlow or Pytorch). Experience with image processing / computer vision. Experience with cloud computing, cloud development ecosystem. Familiarity with regression analysis and statistical techniques. Familiarity with biomedical signals and signal processing.

Preferred qualifications include experience with microcontrollers and edge computing.
