The Fellow will develop and evaluate ML techniques for estimating and optimizing network-level parameters in complex, real-world conditions. The role includes close collaboration with the AT&T Center for Virtualization at SMU, with a focus on advancing scalable distributed computing, context-aware networking, and secure systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct original research applying AI/ML to wide-area and distributed network environments.
  • Design and analyze algorithms for network performance estimation and optimization.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and institutions to assist in developing external grant proposals.
  • Mentor students and contribute to the missions of the O’Donnell Institute and the AT&T Center for Virtualization.
  • Publish findings in leading conferences and journals.

Institutional Context

SMU is a nationally ranked, private, non-sectarian R1 research institution located in one of the nation’s fastest growing metropolitan areas.
