Job Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate in Aerial Robotics with a competitive salary. Initial offer will be a three-years contract that can be extended based on available funding years and the candidate’s performance.
We are looking for an outstanding Postdoc to contribute to various aspects of the project on aerial robotics and manipulation. Please consider applying if you have a strong background in robot modelling, control and learning. We especially seek individuals who have experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Good experience in hardware and software design and integration for robotic systems (particularly UAVs and aerial manipulators)
  • Strong background in robotic experiments
  • Profound knowledge of robot control, dynamics and kinematics
  • Profound knowledge in vision systems and potentially in visual servo control of robots
  • Good experience and knowledge in pose estimation and SLAM
  • Experience in ROS and writing highly optimized and efficient software in C/C++
  • Independent, self-reliant working style
  • Willingness and interest in learning about new and challenging topics
  • Team player
  • Experience with real-time software
  • Excellent communication skills in English

The successful candidates will be involved actively in independent research, co-supervising students, grant application preparation, and teaching.
The research will involve developing UAV and aerial manipulation planning and control methods, and SLAM. Also, the tasks will include software-hardware implementation of the methods, and designing as well as conducting both laboratory and field experiments.
Additional Information

  • The positions will be for 3 years with the potential for extension, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
  • Anticipated starting date is as soon as possible.
  • Salary is very competitive and depends on the previous experience of the candidate.
  • Preference will be given to Canadian residents. The successful candidate will also have good health insurance for their families through the universities involved. The candidate will also be provided with health spending account ($2,500/year) for the entire family which works as a complementary insurance.
