The Mercer University School of Engineering (MUSE) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position in Mechanical Engineering, starting August 2024.
Responsibilities:
Candidates with expertise, scholarly interest, and an excellent capacity for undergraduate teaching and research at undergraduate and graduate levels in areas related to mechanical design, CAD/graphics tools, mechatronics, and manufacturing are of particular interest. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college level and professional consulting, or industrial experience. Experience with professional organizations such as ABET, ASEE, ASME, etc., is desirable. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and master’s levels, integrating service and research, and scholarship focused on the institution’s educational mission. An ability and interest to conduct research with undergraduates is highly desired. It would be expected this faculty member to teach both undergraduate and occasionally graduate courses. Undergraduate course expectations are fundamental and departmental engineering courses such as senior design, engineering graphics with CAD, machine design, dynamics, solid mechanics and related courses, among others.
Qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. and B.S. from an accredited college/university in mechanical engineering or a closely related field (or evidence that the Ph.D. will be complete by August 2024) is required. Those with industry experience and/or professional registration are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, service, scholarship and undergraduate research focused on support of the institution’s educational mission.
