Requirements
A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Electrical Power Engineering with at least eight (8) years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or industry experience and an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience in Electrical Power Engineering. Specialised knowledge and experience in specific fields of Electrical Power Engineering and/or Power Systems. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Proven competence in successful sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources. Successful initiation and management of research projects. Experience in curriculum development. Strong management/organisational and mentorship skills. Competence to develop highquality course materials and to teach in at least six (6) of the following under-graduate courses: Engineering Electromagnetics; Power Systems Engineering; Electrical Design/ Electrical Systems Design; Transmission and Distribution Networks; Power Systems Operation and Control; Energy Management; High Voltage Engineering; Renewable Energy; Electrical Machines and Machine Systems; Power Systems Protection; Power Electronics and Drives; Automation and Control Systems; Electrical Energy Conversion and Utilisation. Competent in modelling software such as Matlab/Octave, Simulink, Labview, etc. Experience in developing post graduate programmes and to teach at post-graduate level. Competence to assume academic leadership, to establish professional networks and to maintain links with industry. Sound research experience/profile, including twenty (20) publications in peerreviewed journals/books/conference proceedings and, in addition to under-graduate research/project supervision, successful supervision of at least three (3) Master’s (research) students.
