- Full-time Fixed Term 12 months. Base Salary: $91,177 p.a. – $94,629 p.a. plus a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation. Note: An extension is possible, funding is available for 24 months.
About the opportunity
The position open is for a research associate to engage in experimental work applied to two-phase flows. The research associate, working with the academics, will drive experimental design and development, and take leadership in generating high quality research output. The role will involve experimentation and analysis of pharmaceutical powder dynamics and upper airway fluid flow in both laminar and turbulent flows. The candidate is expected to both apply existing experimental techniques and design new in-house experiments to study the fundamental dynamics of inhaler systems. Research will take place in the school of AMME, the school of Pharmacy, as well as with collaborators. Experimental tools and facilities available to both Schools of AMME and Pharmacy are state of the art.

- A PhD or near completion in Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in experimental rig design and development. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in laser and optical diagnostic techniques applied to sprays or particle laden flows.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and publishing high quality research in one or more of the following areas: Particle Engineering, Laser and Optical Diagnostics, Fluid Dynamics, Pharmaceutical Powders and Dry Powder Inhalers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a successful research team with focus on collaborative and participative research practices.
