Doctoral Researcher position in Digital Twins of Process for Building Construction
Research
The Department of Civil Engineering at the Aalto University is offering a Doctoral Researcher position in research on Digital Twins of Process for Building Construction. The research aims to create a holistic, integrated digital twin model for the construction of buildings, which can be used to model, simulate, compare, and evaluate the performance of processes. The first objective is to develop an advanced sensing system that can provide automated situational awareness of the construction production, including the status of physical products and processes and supply of construction resources. The second objective is to achieve a digital twin of the construction process based on agent-based modeling and simulation.

Requirements
Required background: A Master’s degree in computer science or engineering, preferably with excellent or very good grades
Expected skills and knowledge: Some previous experience or studies in developing simulation models are required. Fluency in English, scientific writing, good interaction skills with project members are required. Previous experience / knowledge in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and previous experience on construction projects is beneficial.
Contract and salary
Aalto University applies the salary system of Finnish universities. Currently, the starting salary for doctoral researchers is slightly above 2500€ per month and is increased with the progress towards the doctoral degree to over 3100€ per month. The position is contract-based. The financing is subject to the availability of funding.
The position is for two years, with the possibility of extension for another two years. There will be a compulsory midterm review which will be completed during the second year. More info here

In a maximum of four years, the doctoral researcher is required to 1) complete the doctoral dissertation, 2) finish relevant courses for 40 ECTS credits, 3) participate in teaching and 4) participate in further research collaborations of the research group.
The position may not be opened if no qualified candidate is found.
