Professorship in Virtual Product Creation (W3
(Code. No. 297)
at the Department of Mechanical Engineering beginning in Winter Semester 2020/21.
The applicant will represent the chair of "Virtual Product Creation" in research and education. We are looking for a nationally and internationally highly qualified person combining an excellent knowledge base and an extensive experience in the field of virtual product creation. The applicant must have demonstrated significant independent research achievements and should have implemented innovative methods in practice.
The applicant will be responsible for teaching the compulsory courses "Information and Communication Technology" and "Computer Aided Design" mandatory in the Bachelor’s Degree program of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In the Master’s Degree program, the applicant conveys aspects of Digital Engineering Processes and/or on methods of concurrent virtual methods in virtual product creation.
The research focus is on models, methods and systems for seamless digital data-integrated product creation processes including data management in the overall process chain of product creation and along the complete product life cycle.
The candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to national and international collaborative research and to initiate and participate in interdisciplinary projects with other departments and research groups.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in engineering or natural sciences with suitable pedagogical qualifications, as well as the willingness to participate in academic self-administration. An excellent knowledge of the German and English language is welcome.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
