Established in 1981, the SCHOOL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (EEE) http://www.eee.ntu.edu.sg is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Built on a culture of excellence, the School is renowned for its high academic standards and research. With more than 150 faculty members and an enrolment of more than 4,000, of which about 1,000 are graduate students, it is one of the largest EEE schools in the world and ranks 6th in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering in the 2017 QS World University Rankings by Subjects.
We are looking for a suitable candidate to fill one Research Fellow position to study and develop novel GaN-based heterostructures to realize intersubband transition in the near-IR for tunable metasurfaces. The project involves molecular beam epitaxial growth optimization such as control over III/V ratio, metal desorption, stress, etc. that critically determine the band gap, conduction band alignment and heterostructure-quality with crack-free and smooth surface. Material characterizations such as high resolution X-Ray diffraction (HR-XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) will be employed to investigate the structural properties of the heterostructures grown. Photoluminescence will be carried out to measure the intersubband transition energy under different gating voltages and the tunability will be tested and evaluated.
You will have the opportunity to work with a group of researchers in a similar area. You are expected to track the project progress and report your findings in journals/conferences as well as IP development. You are also expected to meet with the PI regularly, co-supervise FYP/Masters students, prepare progress report and assist in procurement matters.
