RT-COOL (Real-Time COntrol and Optimization Laboratory) at Clemson University is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified post-doctor to fill our Post-doctoral Research Associate position. 

RT-COOL is located in Clemson, SC, approximately 2 hours from Charlotte, NC, and 2.5 hours from Atlanta, GA. RT-COOL is currently focused on: controller and power hardware in the loop research in addition to applied power electronics; distributed control; power, energy, and thermal management; motor drives and electric machine technology; and electrical apparatus degradation abatement via advanced control. RT-COOL current has 3 advanced real-time simulators with an additional 3 expected to arrive this year, over 270 controller platforms from National Instruments and Raspberry PI, with an additional 200 to be added within the next year. RT-COOL additionally has over 322 sq ft of data visualization. Moreover, RT-COOL will be adding multiple PHIL-integrated dynamometer systems with SiC-based flexible and controllable sources within the next 6 months. 

RT-COOL is currently funded via contracts and grants from the Department of Energy, Office of Naval Research, and the Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center via Clemson University's VIPR-GS Center. RT-COOL has 3 Principal Investigators, 10 PhD students, 1 MS student, and 7 undergraduate researchers. In addition, RT-COOL is a close collaborator with Clemson University's Energy Innovation Center in Charleston, SC, and Clemson University's International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) in Greenville, SC. 

We are currently seeking an individual with one or more of the current capabilities:
Real-time simulator experience
Skills in programming in C++, and/or Python
Skills in working with Matlab/Simulink
Skills in working with Labview
Expertise in power electronics, electrical machines, and controls
Good oral and written communication.

It is expected that the qualified individual will commit to working for RT-COOL for a minimum of 2 years. Salary is negotiable based on individual qualifications.
