The Civil Engineering Department invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Construction Engineering (required) and one or more of the following: Transportation Engineering, Architectural/Sustainable Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Water Resources Engineering). Montana Technological University’s Civil Engineering program is A.B.E.T. accredited.
Montana Technological University, Butte Montana, is nestled in the Heart of the Rocky Mountains along the Continental Divide, where I-15 and I-90 intersect. Candidates shall have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering by the start date, August 2021 to be considered for this position. Applicants must complete the questionnaire as part of their submission package and declare expertise in (1) construction engineering and (2) one or more of the following areas: Transportation Engineering, Architectural/Sustainable Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Water Resources Engineering). A strong potential for quality teaching and research is required of the assistant professor position. Delivery of curriculum in an attuned balanced, and enthusiastic manner that is consistent with the Civil Engineering Department’s approach is expected. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required for this appointment.
The successful candidate will help the program execute a holistic understanding of many Civil Engineering aspects like the planning, layout, and sustainable design of residential, commercial, and municipal projects. Engineering Pedagogy that pairs well with engineering-related topics like: safety, the environment, code compliance and enforcement, project supervision and decision-making, are highly valued. Experience with appropriate software, and alternative teaching delivery methods such as distance learning is a plus.
