The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, advise students at all levels and maintain an active research program. The successful candidate for an Associate Professor or Full Professor position should have a record of scholarly accomplishments, teaching experience, and a sustained externally funded research program. Preference will be given to candidates for an Associate Professor or Full Professor position that can demonstrate a commitment to collaboration in their previous research program.
Desirable areas of research expertise are any that complement the existing research strengths in the department but are not limited to, one or more of the following: (1) Communications, signal processing, and networking including but not limited to wireless communications, software-defined networking, network optimization, signal processing, information theory, coding theory and data analytics; (2) Fundamental and applied photonics including quantum optical phenomena, artificial intelligence assisted photonics, energy harvesting and conversion technologies, new photonics component for future internet of things and integrated optical systems for applications such as biomedical wearable devices; and (3) Quantum electronics including experimental and/or theoretical efforts in quantum computing, nontraditional circuits and architectures, emergent approaches to post-CMOS technology, quantum and multifunctional materials, 2D nano-electronics and nanoscale sensors.
The Department of Electrical Engineering occupies a green building with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and academic spaces designed to support collaboration among faculty and student groups within the department, across the university, and with other institutions. The Department of Electrical Engineering has vibrant research programs in electronics, optics and photonics, communications, networking, signal processing and energy systems. Particular areas of excellence include 2D materials and devices, nanoelectronic and nanophotonic materials and devices, metamaterials and structured light, Terahertz electronics and communications, wireless communications in extreme environments (underwater, underground, intra-body), cognitive radio and dynamic spectrum access, Internet of Things, big data and machine learning, smart grids and power electronics.
