Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor in Mechanical Engineering

Penn State Berks (Reading, PA) invites applications for two non-tenure line lecturer/assistant teaching professors beginning August 2024 (nine-month positions). Penn State Berks, a college of the Pennsylvania State University, offers the collegiality of a small college with the strength of a well-respected research university. This is a term appointment with an excellent possibility of refunding.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • One position is for teaching courses in the mechanics area (Cornerstone Design, Strength of Materials, Materials Laboratory, Finite Element, and other courses). The other position is for teaching courses in the thermal fluid area (Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and other courses). The courses are part of our BS in Mechanical Engineering and BS in Electromechanical Engineering Technology programs.
  • This position carries a teaching load of 3/4 courses per semester (21 contacts per year).
  • Penn State Berks encourages active and collaborative learning, including undergraduate research, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners in the classroom.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants are required to have at least a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field by the employment start date.
  • Students who are ABD in a PhD program we strongly encouraged to apply.
  • A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field by the employment start date is preferred.
  • Mentoring will be provided to support the development of candidates during the year.
