The Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at Union College invites applications for a Lecturer of Biomedical Engineering position, beginning Fall 2024. The position is renewable with a contract period of three years. After six years of employment at Union, Lecturers are eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer with the possibility of contract lengths up to five years. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field is required. Candidates expecting to complete their doctoral thesis before September 2024 are also welcome to apply. We seek an individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to student-centered undergraduate education, including those with a professional interest in pedagogy. Service duties will include coordinating the Summer Clinical Immersion Program with our local partners, advising our Biomedical Engineering Society student chapter, and coordinating the biomedical engineering seminar series. Although research is not an expectation of this position, the successful candidate will have the option to continue scholarly activity and will have access to College funds and a wide array of advanced instrumentation and facilities. Excellent candidates in all areas of Biomedical Engineering will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in biomechanics, biomaterials, and rehabilitation engineering.

Union College (www.union.edu) is a small and highly selective undergraduate institution with particular strengths in science and engineering and committed to the creative integration of science and engineering with the humanities and social sciences. The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to undergraduate education. As part of the Templeton Institute for Engineering and Computer Science, we are especially interested in applicants that can make connections with other existing interdisciplinary programs or departments through their teaching.

Please find the ad for this position at http://jobs.union.edu, and follow the application submission instructions. Increasing diversity and inclusiveness is a critical priority for Union and we expect applicants to address how they can further this goal in their cover letter.  Applicants are also encouraged to include information about experience with community partnerships in the cover letter. Applications should include 1) a CV and 2) a statement of teaching experience and philosophy. The teaching statement should include ideas for how the candidate might contribute to the diversity and inclusivity of students, educational experiences, and offerings at Union College. If you are selected for a first-round interview, we will ask you to provide names and contact information for three references, and an email will be sent to them requesting a letter of recommendation. Review of complete applications will begin May 6, 2024 and continue until the position is filled.

We strongly encourage applications from members of traditionally underrepresented groups.

Union College is committed to providing access and will provide reasonable accommodation in its application process to individuals with disabilities, upon request.
