The National Institute for Risk and Resilience (NIRR; risk.ou.edu) at the University of Oklahoma (OU) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a 5-year, $20 million, NSF funded project on Socially Sustainable Solutions for Water, Carbon, and Infrastructure Resilience in Oklahoma (S3OK). The highly interdisciplinary S3OK project includes researchers from social and natural sciences, meteorology, and engineering. The successful applicant will primarily work within the Sustainable Infrastructure (SI) Focus Area of the project and interact with researchers in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Operations Research.

The goal of the SI Focus Area is to develop an aggregated resilience model that will be utilized to characterize the influence of diverse stakeholders’ preferences and decision-making behavior on the functions of interdependent water, electric power, and transportation infrastructure systems to seek socially sustainable solutions to "wicked" problems. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in engineering analysis of components of these systems, network vulnerability studies, and interdependency characterization.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The successful applicant will have prior experience with designing and implementing network analysis, large-scale optimization models, and stochastic programming. Excellent quantitative, analytical, and communication skills are also expected. A competitive salary will be paid. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, CV, a list of representative journal publications, and the names of three references to Professor K.K. "Muralee" Muraleetharan (muralee@ou.edu), the Associate Director for Infrastructure and Engineering at NIRR.

The University of Oklahoma is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Very High Research Activity institution, placing it in the highest tier of research universities in the nation.

The position is available immediately and applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. The initial appointment will be for one year and will be extended depending on the job performance. The University of Oklahoma complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding non-discrimination and affirmative action. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, gender expression, age, religion, disability, political beliefs, or status as a veteran. The University of Oklahoma is an equal opportunity institution (www.ou.edu/eoo).
