JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Signals and Systems. Consideration will be given to candidates who have expertise in one or more of the following areas: radars signal processing (including CFAR-Constant False Alarm Rate radars, pulse Doppler and space-time signal processing, track algorithms and wavelets), control systems, advanced robotics, autonomous systems, or other related fields. Successful applicants will have earned a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Applicants should demonstrate (a) potential for scholarly activities that are supported by publications, and externally funded contracts and grants (b) commitment to teach and mentor students and © a desire for university and professional service, while contributing to the diversity of the UAH academic community.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers the BS, MSE, and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the MSSE degree, MS in Cybersecurity through a multi-college collaboration, and the PhD degree in the Optical Science and Engineering multidisciplinary program. The department has 21 tenured/tenure-earning faculty with over 650 undergraduate students and about 200 graduate students. The ECE Department has research strengths in the areas of cybersecurity, control systems, physical electronics and health monitoring. Current sources of faculty funding include federal sources such as NSF, NSA, DOD and NASA, and industry.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Engineering currently has a research focus that addresses three National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Grand Challenge problems: secure cyberspace; restore and improve urban infrastructure; and engineer tools of scientific discovery. The College of Engineering and the ECE department play an important role in several UAH research thrust areas including (a) cybersecurity and big data, (b) aerospace and systems engineering, and © earth, atmospheric, and space systems. The College enrolls 35% of UAH’s undergraduates in ABET‐accredited programs in aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial and systems, mechanical, and optical engineering.
