The Computational Biomechanics Lab (PI: Dr. Lik Chuan Lee) in Michigan State University has openings for postdocs and PhD students.
For postdoc position: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in either mechanical, biomedical, aeronautical, civil engineering or equivalent field with a strong foundation in programming (C++ and python), computational mechanics, numerical methods and the finite element method. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are familiar with the open-source finite element library FeNiCS, cardiac finite element modeling, medical image processing, and machine learning. The candidate is expected to possess excellent communication and written skills. In this position, the candidate will work to develop data-driven multiscale/multiphysics formulations and code to solve problems related to the cardiovascular system. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to help mentor students and publish peer-reviewed journal articles. The successful candidate will enjoy ample training and networking opportunities.
For PhD positions: We are looking for self-motivated PhD students to work in the broad area of computational biomechanics focusing on cardiovascular modeling. Students with background in engineering mechanics, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and/or biomedical engineering are welcome to apply. PhD students in the lab will receive not only rigorous training in computational modeling of biosystems, but also exposure and possible hands-on-experience in relevant experiments involving animal studies.
Outstanding candidates are invited to submit a letter of application detailing their relevant background and a CV to lclee@egr.msu.edu. Any enquiries can also be directed to Lik Chuan Lee.
