The NanoProduct Lab (http://nanoproductlab.com/), also known as the Bedewy Research Group, in the department of industrial engineering at the University of Pittsburgh has an opening for a postdoc to work on experimental research in the area of graphene-based flexible devices for neural interfaces. Candidates with experience in any of the following experimental techniques are encourage to apply:
- Synthesis of graphene (or other porous nanocarbons) and characterization of carbon nanomaterials by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)
- Fabrication and characterization of polymer films: chemical processing of precursors, curing, spin casting, bar coating, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), UV-Vis spectroscopy, etc.
- Laser processing of materials, especially polymers, for chemical modification, pyrolysis, and scribing
The NanoProduct Lab focuses on fundamental experimental research at the interface between nanoscience, biotechnology, and manufacturing engineering. The lab makes basic scientific discoveries and applied technological developments in the broad area of advanced manufacturing at multiple length scales, aiming at creating novel solutions that impact major societal challenges in areas related to healthcare, energy and the environment.
