We are seeking an exceptional postdoctoral researcher to work on a new 3-year project funded by the Sloan Foundation to create an Open Energy Outlook for the United States. The goal of the project is to develop and utilize open source datasets and models to examine technology pathways and policies for deep decarbonization in the United States. This effort will build upon an existing open source modeling effort called ‘Tools for Energy Model Optimization and Analysis’ (Temoa): http://temoaproject.org/. The postdoctoral researcher will help coordinate research activities among a large, interdisciplinary academic team and have primary responsibility for data and model implementation, as well as conducting the model-based analysis. The ideal candidate should also have the ability to think broadly about climate mitigation pathways and climate policy.

Good communication skills and an ability to work in a dynamic environment with people of varying backgrounds.

A PhD in engineering, operations research, or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will have domain knowledge in energy with expertise in energy systems optimization modeling and strong programming skills. Specific experience with GitHub, Python, Pyomo, Pandas, R, and relational databases are a definite plus.
