New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for an open rank, tenure-track faculty position to start in Fall 2025. The focus of this position is at the intersection of civil engineering and urban science, with the position being a joint appointment between the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) and the Civil and Urban Engineering (CUE) department. We seek candidates interested in fostering a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment for teaching and research, who can contribute to methods and foundational knowledge in their disciplines with a strong focus on high-impact urban applications.

Candidates should have expertise and active research related to structures, infrastructure or structural health monitoring. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in

  • climate risk and resilience management and modeling or
  • methods related to data science, visualization, machine learning and artificial intelligence

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, with practical expertise in infrastructure /structural engineering. We seek individuals who have, or have the potential to develop, a strong record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and an excellent funding record. Applicants must demonstrate mastery in core disciplinary knowledge, an ability to bridge the intersection of civil engineering and urban science, and potential for excellence in research, teaching and mentoring.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9-month) range for this position is $120,000-$180,000 for the Assistant Professor rank, $135,000-$205,000 for Associate Professor rank, and $145,000-$235,000 for Full Professor Rank. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
