The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for two PhD positions in Environmental Engineering to pursue research in the area of solid waste management and resource recovery. These graduate students will conduct research at the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (http://newri.ntu.edu.sg/Pages/Home1.aspx) under the supervision of Dr. Abid Hussain.
The students will work on novel biotechnologies such as Microbial Electrochemical Technologies, Electrochemical Enhanced Membrane Biofilm Reactors (MBfR) and integrated processes.
Applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related field. A good GRE test score of 319 (Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning) + 3.5 (Analytical Writing) and above is required. Applicants from India may use the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score of at least 90% in place of GRE. For applicants whose native language is not English, a good TOEFL or IELTS score is required. The minimum score for TOEFL is approximately 600 (100 for IBT) and 6.5 for IELTS (Academic).
