MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a focus on structures or materials
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research in structural or materials engineering
• Ability (subject matter expertise) to teach courses in structural engineering at the university level 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Experience teaching courses in structural engineering at the university level 
• Clear vision for future research including plans for external funding
• Professional experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry 
• PE or eligibility for PE licensure

The duties of the position are:

• To teach undergraduate courses in Civil and Architectural Engineering, typically three courses per year.
• To conduct research in structural or materials engineering. A successful research program is characterized by externally-funded projects, refereed publications, recruitment and supervision of graduate students, national and international presentations.
• To perform service to the home Department, College, and the University.
