ROLE of the POSITION
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNLV is seeking applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty candidates. We are looking for excellent candidates at any rank. The Howard R. We invite applicants in all fields of mechanical engineering, with a preference for candidates with an interest in energy systems. Applications are encouraged from more senior applicants whose experience and accomplishments might be extraordinary. Senior level applicants who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, research, and academic qualities may also be considered for the position of Director of our Center for Energy Research.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or the equivalent in a relevant field by the beginning of the appointment. They must have a strong research and publication record. Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a productive externally-funded research program and serve both the campus and profession.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has 19 faculty, 654 undergraduate students and 69 M.S. and Ph.D. students. The ME department had $4.7 million in research expenditures last year and received $2.8 million in new research awards. The department has excellent research facilities including the Center for Energy Research (https://www.unlv.edu/cer), Science and Engineering Building (https://www.unlv.edu/seb), Active Materials and Smart Systems Lab (http://www.kwangjinkim.org/).

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants with significant experience will be considered for Associate or Full Professor positions.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
