Research Assistant or Research Associate (Temporary)

The successful candidate will help execute projects and conduct research related to energy and transportation systems. The research may involve vehicle-to-grid systems, integrating renewable sources into the grid, economic analysis of smart grid operation, smart grid resiliency and educational outreach. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of renewal based on productivity, performance and the availability of funding.
Conduct research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI). This specifically involves:
-Formulating mathematical and computational models of energy and transportation systems
-Designing, developing and validating analytical tools
-Designing and performing computational simulations, evaluating and analyzing results
-Preparing status reports and deliverables in collaboration with and under the direction of the PI.
Assist the supervisor in writing scholarly articles and research proposals.
-The successful candidate will be expected to write peer reviewed scholarly articles.
-The successful candidate will be expected to assist in the formulation and writing of research proposals.
-Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
Research Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related areas.
Research Associate: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Operations Research, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related areas. A successful background check is required.
Work Schedule: This position has a flexible work schedule. 20 to 30 hours per week.
The initial appointment will be until August 31, 2021 with a possibility of renewal based on productivity, performance and the availability of funding.
