The Centre for Engineering in Society (CES) in the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, Concordia University, Montreal, invites applications for an Extended Term Appointment (ETA) in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This is a full-time position for an initial 3-year appointment from May 15, 2019 to May 14, 2022. CES currently offers a graduate certificate in innovation, technology and society and will be developing a closely related certificate and diploma. The successful candidate will administer these programs and teach graduate courses for these programs especially in the innovation and disruptive technologies domain. This includes creativity in relation to innovation and problem solving, the innovation process, identification of users and their needs, analysis of region specific innovations, and integration of disruptive technologies, and disruption analysis of technologies on society and industry. Candidates will be required to showcase evidence in experiential learning concepts, and prior experience managing student experiential learning.
Required Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates holding a PhD in innovation processes or another closely-related discipline. A demonstrated ability to teach in English with experiential learning platforms is required. At the same time, bilingual ability in French and English as well as a regional understanding and experience is required. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer. Candidates should be available to start work in Canada on May 15, 2019.
Submission will consist of: (i) a letter of application, (ii) a current curriculum vitae, (iii) a statement of understanding of Montreal’s innovation ecosystem (challenges and opportunities), (iv) a statement of applicant’s philosophy for teaching in and administering academic programs, and (v) evidence of teaching effectiveness in the area of innovation, (vi) short-listed candidates will be expected to provide three letters of reference with at least one letter from an innovation stakeholder should speak to involvement in the innovation/disruptive technology ecosystem, (vii) statement of experience in the innovation process (whether through a start-up experience or working for a community stakeholder supporting the innovation ecosystem).
