The Bellan Laboratory (https://my.vanderbilt.edu/bellanlab/) at Vanderbilt University seeks an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to work on an NSF-funded project focused on studying the effects of pulsatile flow on smooth muscle cells in microchannels within compliant hydrogels. The overarching goal of the project is to enable engineering of arteriole-scale vessels capable of responding to vasoactive agents by vasoconstriction or vasodilation at physiological levels.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative candidate with a Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field. Previous experience in one or more of the following technical areas is required: mammalian cell culture and characterization, three-dimensional cell culture, tissue engineering, advanced microscopy, microfluidics and/or biomaterials. Must possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to contribute in a multidisciplinary team setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills required, as is the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
