We are hiring in the areas of computer science, structural engineering, water resources engineering, and power engineering.
Outstanding candidates who can effectively teach and mentor a diverse student body and develop a robust research program are strongly encouraged to apply. While the target of hiring is at the Assistant Professor level, outstanding applicants may be considered at the Associate Level. The proposed start date is September 2020.
We seek candidates with the following research focus in one or more of the following areas:
Computer Science: all areas, with a preference for candidates who will enhance or complement our existing areas of research expertise (data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence, networking and systems, privacy and security, programming languages and formal methods, software engineering, visualization, computer science education), and/or whose work is aligned with the department’s strategic vision for Trusted Cities, Technology for the People, an effort that supports transparent, equitable, and reliable computing to improve the health of people and the cities that they live in.
Civil and Environmental Engineering (Structural): theoretical structural mechanics of materials and/or systems, advanced computational modeling, cyber physical systems, data analysis, modeling and prognosis using sensor data, and/or innovative materials/structures for a sustainable infrastructure.
Civil and Environmental Engineering (Water Resources): water resources and management, watersheds, hydrology and hydrologic modeling, fluvial and coastal systems, and the role/impact of climate change in the environment.
Electrical and Computer Engineering (Power Systems): electric power systems research such as cyber-physical power systems, power system data science, power systems cybersecurity, or distributed power systems modeling. Strong candidates in other power related areas may also be considered.
