The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University is pleased to invite applications for one open-rank, tenure-track or tenured faculty position. The position can be filled at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. The focus areas are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Robotics, Large Language Models (LLM) and other AI-driven applications including vision, autonomous driving, cyber-physical systems, biomedicine, healthcare etc. Outstanding applicants in other areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
About the School:
The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) currently has 20 full-time faculty members, 460 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students. Research thrusts within ECE include: (1) Communications, Networks, and Internet-of-Things (loT); (2) Electromagnetic Wave Propagation and Systems; (3) Energy and Power, (4) Image Formation, Signal Processing and Machine Vision, (5) Intelligent Control Systems and Robotics, (6) Photonics and Electro-Optics, (7) Solid State Electronics and Systems, and (8) Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI), Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems. Numerous opportunities exist for collaboration with OSU's internationally recognized Oklahoma Aerospace Institute for Research and Education (OAIRE) and the New Product Development Center. The average annual research expenditure in the School of ECE is about $2.5 million.
The School of ECE offers BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering (EE) and a BS degree in Computer Engineering (CpE) with an option in Software Engineering. The School’s undergraduate programs are ABET-accredited. In addition, a new joint MS in AI program has recently been established and is now open for student applications. This interdisciplinary program is co-led by the School of ECE and the Department of Computer Science (CS) and features three tracks: CpE, CS, and Healthcare Administration (HCA). The faculty member hired for this position will play a key role in supporting and advancing this new AI program.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or closely related engineering field. Successful candidates will be expected to teach electrical and computer engineering courses, develop an externally funded, internationally recognized research program, excel in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise graduate students, and serve ECE and their profession. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work individually and in teams are expected. Applicants who can utilize, share, enhance, and develop existing ECE laboratories are particularly encouraged to apply.
