We are seeking highly qualified candidates with teaching background in computer science and/or software engineering to join as faculty member(s) in the School of Digital Technologies (SoDT) at American University of Technology (AUT), located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. AUT is powered by Arizona State University (ASU), means AUT programs and related curricula are similar to corresponding programs at ASU. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our growing academic community; engage in teaching and scholarly activities; and inspire the next generation of students in science and engineering. 

We are interested in candidates who can develop and teach courses at least in some of the following topics: 

Undergraduate Courses: 
• Introduction to Software Engineering 
• Data Structures and Algorithms 
• Operating Systems 
• Principles of Programming 
• Software Enterprise – Process and Quality Control 
Graduate Courses: 
• Software Verification, Testing, and Validation 
• Software Integration and Engineering 
• Software Quality, Process, and Control 
• Information Assurance and Security 
• Mobile Computing 
• Statistical Machine Learning 
• Data Visualization

Teaching: 
The primary function for this position is teaching core undergraduate (and graduate) courses in computer science and software engineering at the School of Digital Technologies (SoDT). Faculty members are expected to be effective instructors and mentors to the students. The activities include but not limited to the following: 
• Preparing course materials in consultations with the program coordinator 
• Preparing course syllabi that includes learning outcomes, activities, evaluation methods, major course topics, attendance policies, and other policies required by the School and the  university 
• Creating assignments/projects that encourages active learning, critical thinking, and  developing problem-solving skills 
• Using an online learning management system (i.e., Canvas), and other instructional  technology/tools (i.e., Smartboard, Projector, etc.) as needed. 
• Implementing modern teaching-learning pedagogy and practices (i.e., flip-classroom and  experiential learning) 
• Evaluating student performance according to departmental standards 
• Providing constructive feedback to the students on their learning and performance 
• Providing information regarding course outcomes needed for accreditations and quality  control 

Scholarly Activities: 
Scholarly activities are integral part of the faculty job duties in the School of Digital Technologies. 
Each faculty member is expected the following:  
• Actively engage in scholarly activities in his/her fields of interest. 
• Engage the students in research projects and serve as their mentors 
• Actively engage research activities for the faculty’s professional development 
• Collaborate with other faulty member(s) and/or researcher(s) within the university, and outside (national and international) institutions, funding agencies, and industry. 
• Consult with the department/program Director on research initiatives and related activities. 

Services: 
Faculty members are the backbone of the university. In addition to teaching and scholarly activities, services to the university and community engagement are important. The faculty members are expected to the following: 
• Engage in the student recruitment and retention events 
• Serve in the School and/or university level committees as requested 
• Engage in the local community as requested by the School and/or the university

 

The minimum qualifications for the position are listed below: 
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. 
• Demonstrated experience in teaching (in-person) relevant courses for the program at the  university level. 
• For Associate Professor level, at least 6 years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in  relevant courses/program.    
• Professional level language skills in English (i.e., Reading/Writing/Speaking/Listening)  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Commitment to uphold the mission, vision, and goals of the program
