The A. Leon Linton Department of Mechanical, Robotics, and Industrial Engineering at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) invites applications for a project engineer position. The project engineer will support and maintain the Robotics Engineering Automation Lab, Industry 4.0 Lab, labs related to Artificial Intelligence, and other labs as needed. The position is “hands-on” requiring personal motivation, initiative, and leadership. The project engineer will provide technical support as requested by faculty and/or students engaged in robotics, automation, and/or artificial intelligence research. The starting date will be May 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. Review of the applications will commence upon receipt and continue until the position is filled.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s of engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics or related field from an ABET accredited school. A master’s degree in mechatronics or robotics engineering, or related field desired but not required. Industrial or academic research laboratory experience is strongly desired. The ideal candidate will possess significant familiarity with a laboratory environment and testing systems, and have a high proficiency in creating and setting up process instrumentation and data acquisition systems. Familiarity with PLCs and industrial automation is desired.
