The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill multiple graduate research assistantship positions in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH) – the National Institute on Aging (NIA)

GRA positions are available for a project investigating the defects of the microvascular network and the blood-brain barrier in AD brains. He/She will be responsible to perform AD research, including cell culture, animal handling and dissection, biochemical characterizations, cell and membrane mechanical characterizations using atomic force microscopy (AFM), retinal structure characterization using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and angiography (OCTA), data analysis, and reporting research findings for journal publications.

Candidates must have B.S. or M.S. in bioengineering, biophysics, physics, biochemistry, and/or related fields. Experience with cell culture and fluorescence microscopy is required. Applicants with experience in AFM and OCT will be preferred.
