The Duncan Lab (http://duncan.umd.edu) in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland (UMD) – College Park, is seeking applicants for an NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position. Successful candidates will join a new multidisciplinary project in the application of gene therapy for chronic lung disease and infectious diseases.
Compensation for these positions will be at or above NIH guidelines, and will include benefits and retirement package offered by UMD. Postdoctoral research associates will be appointed on annual contracts with the expectation of completing 2-3 years of training. In addition to their assigned research project, postdoctoral fellows will be encouraged and fully supported to develop & pursue new independent research directions, apply for fellowships & postdoc-to-faculty transition awards, and serve as research mentors for undergraduate & graduate trainees.
This position requires a doctoral degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or similar areas. Applicants should possess excellent written & oral communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. All applicants should have experience in the design and characterization of non-viral gene delivery systems. This research will require work with in vivo models where prior experience with animal experiments is desirable.
