The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Dalhousie University invites applications for an Instructor position in the Computer Engineering stream with an expected start date of January 1, 2026.

This position is a key part of our efforts to strengthen and grow our newly established Computer Engineering program, which is undergoing rapid development. The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering high-quality undergraduate education and contributing to academic service, including curriculum development and accreditation.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate courses per year in the Computer Engineering curriculum. Courses may include:
        1.    Computer Architecture
        2.    Computer Engineering Fundamentals
        3.    Algorithms for Computer Engineers
        4.    Microprocessors
        5.    Operating Systems
        6.    Real-Time Systems
        7.    Computer Security
        8.    Electrical and Computer Engineering Design
        9.    Engineering Design II
        10.    Electric Circuits
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Computer Engineering program, including curriculum planning and CEAB accreditation.
  • Participate in student advising and departmental and Faculty-level service activities.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment for undergraduate students.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, or strong potential to excel in this area.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible and committed to registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia.
  • Experience or interest in curriculum development and accreditation processes is an asset.

About the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dalhousie’s Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, based on Sexton Campus in Halifax, delivers a comprehensive suite of accredited programs, including BEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering, MEng, MASc, and PhD. The discipline builds on a robust two-year core curriculum, then offers a modern nine term upper division with project-based labs, technical electives, and a capstone senior-year design experience
