The University of Akron, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking applicants for a full-time nontenure track (NTT) Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice beginning Spring Semester of 2023.
Responsibilities:
The primary focus of this position is teaching and preparing undergraduate students for professional careers. Research is encouraged but is not a critical aspect of this position. The selected candidates will be required to update, revise, and deliver lecture and laboratory courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the undergraduate level. Candidates must have the ability to teach at least two of the core courses and associated laboratory sections in areas such as Circuits, Digital Logic Design, Power, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Control Systems and Signal Processing at the undergraduate level. Additional duties include updating and maintaining laboratory courses, maintaining technical currency, actively participating in University, college, department, and program committee work, assessment/accreditation responsibilities, student recruitment, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a closely related area. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with ten (10) years of professional industry-based design experience will also be considered. Applicants must demonstrate a passion for teaching and the ability to teach at least two core courses such as Circuits, Digital Logic Design, Power, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Control Systems and Signal Processing at the undergraduate level. Applicants must also demonstrate a passion for teaching and have robust training in the broad areas of electrical and computer engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates who have prior teaching experience that focuses on foundation topics in electrical and computer engineering, with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence. We value employees who are as diverse as our students; candidates who can contribute to what makes us unique.
Compensation/Grade & Benefits:
The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
