Assistant Teaching Professor, Environmental Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Syracuse University is seeking candidates to fill a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position in the broad area of environmental engineering. The expected start date for this position is August 2023. The appointment is for a period of three years, with the possibility of renewal.
The CEE Department at Syracuse University currently has 18 faculty members engaging in teaching and research in the areas of environmental, construction, geotechnical, and structural engineering. There are approximately 230 undergraduate and 100 graduate students in our civil and environmental degree programs. Our department offers ABET accredited B.S. degrees in both Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as Middle States accredited M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Department has close ties with other Departments within the College and across the University, including joint graduate certificate programs in Public Infrastructure Management and Leadership with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Sustainable Enterprise with the Whitman School of Management, and Enterprise Technology Leadership with the School of Information Studies and the Whitman School of Management. Required Qualifications:
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering including areas such as fluid mechanics, air resources, and sustainability. Experience in advising, and course and curriculum development.
Job Specific Qualifications:
Candidates should possess enthusiasm for teaching and have a PhD in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates who hold professional licensure (e.g., PE, LEED) or have relevant industry background are particularly welcome to apply.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to the CEE Department’s educational mission by engaging in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering . The position also involves advising and working with students on projects, serving on Department and College committees, and participation in course and curriculum development.
