Assistant / Associate Professor – Aviation Engineering

The School of Aviation at the Australian University (AU) invites applications for faculty positions at the level of Assistant / Associate Professor with a wealth of experience in Aviation Engineering. Successful candidates shall have a demonstrated experience in a professional environment in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and/or Aerospace Engineering.

To this end, AU seeks experienced faculty members that are keen to be part of this dynamic institution that matches the above-mentioned positions to join the School of Aviation, potentially commencing August 18th, 2024.  As per current needs, priority will be given to candidates with expertise in the field of aircraft maintenance engineering, aeronautical engineering and/or aerospace engineering. Screening of applications will begin immediately and will continue until all the positions are filled.

Brief Description of Duties:

  • Teaching and Curriculum Development:
    • Develop and deliver high-quality courses relevant to the subject area of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and Management.
    • Supervise student assignments, provide constructive feedback.
    • Actively contribute to curriculum development, create and update comprehensive and engaging lesson plans to facilitate effective learning.
  • Student Supervision:
    • Offer guidance and mentorship to students in their assignments, projects, and final assessments.
    • Foster a supportive learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Research and Development:
    • Actively participate in research activities within the field of aviation.
    • Seek research grants and funding opportunities to support research initiatives.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences, contributing to the academic growth of the Aviation department and the university.
  • Department Administration:
    • Collaborate in departmental administrative duties as required to foster the department's goals and objectives.
    • Engage in a proactive and supportive manner to contribute to the department's overall success.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • D. in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a similar relevant field;
  • Experience teaching, curriculum development, and a strong record of scholarly publication.
  • Industry exposure through research, consultancy, or professional activities;
  • Strong record of scholarly publication, an ability to attract and sustain externally sponsored research funding;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; and
  • The ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Preference will be given to candidates graduated from and/or served previously in preeminent institutions of higher education;
