Specialist – Teacher-Fixed Term – Applied Engineering Sciences
The College of Engineering at Michigan State University is seeking a candidate for an initial three-year, fixed-term teaching specialist position with possible successive appointments based on budget availability to support instruction in the Applied Engineering Sciences program and mutual agreement. The Teaching Specialist position is a non-tenure track, fixed-term position and will be appointed on an academic year (9-month) basis. Applied Engineering Sciences is a multidisciplinary broad engineering degree housed in the College of Engineering with a business complement of courses. Candidates are expected to have the capacity to teach within the engineering program curriculum and have the flexibility to teach introductory courses within the College of Engineering as well. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is expected as well as a strong academic or industrial background in engineering analysis, computation, design, and data analytics with experience in MATLAB or other structured programming and data visualization such as Tableau or Power BI. Preference will be given to candidates who excel in engineering globalization, systems analysis and sustainable system management. Consideration will also be given to candidates whose experiences prepare them to contribute to MSU's commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Minimum qualification for the position are: to have a maser’s degree in an engineering discipline with significant industrial or educational experience in engineering or a doctoral degree in engineering or engineering education with experience in engineering analysis, design, computation and data analytics. Applicants are expected to work well in a team setting and be highly self-motivated.
